Course Overview:

Students attending the Cambridge International AS and A Level English Literature course will study a variety of works in three primary forms: prose, poetry, and theatre. Set books from a variety of eras and civilizations are available. Learners will improve their reading and analysis abilities, and they will be encouraged to do additional reading to help them grasp the content studied. They will gain effective communication skills, as well as the capacity to debate the essential context of texts.

The predominant aims of the AS and A Level English Literature course are to enable students to:

  • enjoy the diversity in English literature
  • acquire an appreciation for, and an educated personal reaction to, English literature in a variety of genres and from a variety of times and cultures
  • improve the interdependence of reading, analysis, and communication abilities
  • promote reading and provide better knowledge of how it may help with personal development
  • embrace the methodology put forward by writers to create effect.

Requirements:

There are no specific entry requirements for this course. However, we advise students with a grade lower than C in GCSE English to keep in mind that this is a demanding course of study.

To be able to participate in our online AS and A level English Literature courses, students will need:

  • a device to connect to our lessons (computer, laptop or a tablet)
  • a reliable internet connection
  • web camera.

Course material is included in the registration.

Assessment Information: The examination fee is not included in the course fee paid to International Well Rounded Education. Students are required to arrange and pay for the examinations themselves, however support and guidance will be available with regards to finding exam centers.
