Course Overview:

Cambridge International AS and A Level Chemistry will elaborate on the knowledge and skills attained in the Cambridge IGCSE. The content is founded upon advanced practical skills, real life application of chemistry concepts and substantial theoretical knowledge.

The Chemistry AS and A level course develops analytical skills, creativity, problem solving and logical thinking which will be essential for further study that our students intend to pursue. Alongside the particular emphasis on understanding theoretical concepts and practical applications of chemistry based ideas, the chemistry course also offers a blended approach to learners who wish to diversify their interests related to science and follow a career in a relevant field.

The predominant aims of the AS and A Level Chemistry course are to enable students to:

  • benefit from scientific themes and concepts relating to chemistry
  • acknowledge the social responsibilities we hold towards the environment
  • ┬ádevelop clear communication when encountering scientific themes by the use of appropriate terminology,
  • enhance skills in data analysis, conceptual understanding, evaluation and establishing conclusions
  • acquire technical knowledge regarding application of scientific methods and develop a keen awareness of scientific limitations to theories and models
  • learn and understand practical applications with respect to safety measures.

Requirements:

There are no specific entry requirements for this course. However, we advise students with a grade lower than C in GCSE Chemistry to keep in mind that this is a demanding course of study.

To be able to participate in our online AS and A level Chemistry courses, students will need:

  • a device to connect to our lessons (computer, laptop or a tablet)
  • a reliable internet connection
  • web camera.

Course material is included in the registration.

Assessment Information: The examination fee is not included in the course fee paid to International Well Rounded Education. Students are required to arrange and pay for the examinations themselves, however support and guidance will be available with regards to finding exam centers.
